Sudoku 2.0 approaching Beta status

Posted on Friday 28 July 2006

So I know I’ve been a little behind on working on 2.0, but I’m getting close and I’m going to need some BETA testers. If you are interested, please sign-up for an account on the blog (not in the comments please - I don’t want anyone’s emails revealed) and I’ll send you an email in a week or two. (more…)

Ok not really…But there is an article over at Gizmodo which talks about widgets and ours got a significant mention. Big thanks to Laura Richardson for writing an excellent article! Here’s the link.

Sudoku Widget FAQs

Posted on Thursday 9 March 2006

I’ve added a small page of FAQ’s because many of the questions that are asked were covered in some of the comments buried away. Please check out the FAQs if you have any questions. If your specific question isn’t answered let me know and someone will try to answer it asap. To get to the FAQ page click here or click the link at the very top of the page.

Gmaps pedometer is cool!

Posted on Tuesday 21 February 2006

I used Gmaps pedometer to map out the route I ran this weekend and it’s pretty awesome. I have a Polar watch which tells me the distance and elevation (and they matched up pretty well - the watch said 10.4 miles). But, I like seeing it on the map and especially like the little elevation graph at the bottom. If you haven’t used it yet, check it out.

Sudoku 2.0 Beta is being reversioned as 1.5

Posted on Monday 20 February 2006

Sorry for the confusion, but I decided to change the version #’s because I really want to change a lot of things for 2.0 including a rewrite of much of the code. On the other hand, I also want to release this version in the interim and the changes won’t really justify a small, say 2.1, release. So instead I’m going to make the version you all have been playing in beta form 1.5.

Look for 1.5 to come out later today in wide release. Thanks!

Fixed problems of beeping

Posted on Thursday 16 February 2006

Arg! Don’t you love when Apple changes something in one of their software updates and it breaks something else. Anyway the incessant beeping caused by 10.4.5 in the widget has been fixed in Sudoku 2.0 Beta 4. Also fixed:

  • time incorrectly displaying
  • high score sorting
  • and hopefully the disappearing numbers, though I have yet to see it happen myself, but hopefully this change will fix it

Download it here.

Sudoku Widget 2.0 Beta 3 available

Posted on Sunday 12 February 2006

Fixes:

  • High scores sort correctly (your high scores will be deleted when you update though - sorry)
  • Time shown with high scores
  • ‘P’ or ‘p’ puts you in pencil mark only mode - hit it again to go back. Caps lock doesn’t work because of the way keyboard entry is handled :(
  • shift-Delete - deletes all pencil marks
  • ctrl-Delete - deletes all pencil marks and any user entered numbers. Basically a reset button

Download it here.

Paypal donations accepted

Posted on Sunday 12 February 2006

So I know you are all saying to yourself now, “I knew this would happen, great things never stay free.” But, it’s my hope and intention that the Sudoku Widget will always stay free. Unfortunately, I also want want to be able to give everyone the best possible widget and Sudoku game possible and we’ve had such a great response for this widget - we’ve been in the top five of apple’s downloads for a couple weeks now! So…rather than charge for the widget, I feel it’s better to just ask for donations. The more money we collect the less time I can spend on developing websites and the more time I can spend working on the game and hopefully some other interesting widgets that I have ideas for.

I know some people aren’t big fans of paypal, but I feel it’s the easiest solution. If you are really oppossed to it and want to make a contribution just let me know and we’ll work something else out. Any amount is accepted and genuinely appreciated. To donate just click on the button below or on the sidebar. Thanks again and happy Sudoku-ing!
