Fixed problems of beeping

Posted on Thursday 16 February 2006

Arg! Don’t you love when Apple changes something in one of their software updates and it breaks something else. Anyway the incessant beeping caused by 10.4.5 in the widget has been fixed in Sudoku 2.0 Beta 4. Also fixed:

  • time incorrectly displaying
  • high score sorting
  • and hopefully the disappearing numbers, though I have yet to see it happen myself, but hopefully this change will fix it

Download it here.

    hi
the beta4 download doesn´t work, i.e. the file has 0 KB

and a question: I just did a sudoku (setting hard) and halfway through I encountered a situation where at least two options of solving were open: so I solved it deliberately the “wrong way” and it looks OK (i.e. “incorrect” answers are highlighted, but nonetheless all prerequisites for a correct solution are fulfilled - is that possible?) - I do have a screenshot

    regards
    Matt

Beta 4 should be downloadable now.

The incessant beeping is gone in Beta 4 on 10.4.5. I was really becoming accustom to it :^)

I too had a screen shot, though from B.2 of a puzzle that does not have a unique solution.

Pressing page down when the widget is in focus makes the top third or so disappear.

Beta 4 on 10.4.5, I have a time of 18 minutes showing on the clock. I completed the puzzle and gaveme a final timing of 3:48. Gave me a score of 8141 though! I do have a screen shot if you want it.

    Wanting two things added:

    1) Automatically remove conflicting pencil marks when a number is properly placed in a puzzle.
    2) Mark incorrect pencil marks if “highlight incorrect answers” is selected. and pecil marks do conflict.

I just downloaded 2b4 and I’m still getting the beeping on key presses. Thought you’d like to know. Let me know if you need info from my system to solve.

    Hey,

I happened to send you a German localization of Sudoku (1.21). Unfortunately, you didn’t respond. Are you interested in a localization of 2.0? If so, just contact me by email.

    Hey Dan,
I had a similar problem with b4 (beeping continued). I’m not sure what combination of events got it to quit, but changing the options and then starting a new game eventually got it to stop for me.

If you are continuing to have the beeping please try the following.

Remove the widget using the manage widgets widget
    Remove your prefs file: ~/Library/Preferences/widget-com.bdeboer.widget.sudoku.plist
    Reinstall sudoku beta 4.
Try hitting command-r to refresh it.

Let me know if that helps. Thanks,

    Brian

In would be nice to have some kind of interface indicator of the status of the Pencil Mark State(P/p). There are many times where I lose track of that state and the only way of “remembering” what state I am in is to place a number.

Stephen, I’m not sure your ideas for the pencil marks will make this version, but I will keep it in mind for the next one. Thanks!

Looks like loading v1.5 solved the beeping I was having. BTW, the 1.5 widget lists itself as v1.0.
